What is the Forever Young BBL™ treatment?
Forever Young BBL™ (FYBBL) is a triple-threat skin rejuvenating powerhouse! How does Forever Young BBL™ work?
Let there be light! FYBBL uses Broadband Light (BBL) to target and eradicate the visible signs of sun damage on your skin. During your treatment, your provider will use specific wavelengths of light best suited to treat your concerns (dark spots and/or redness). This light is emitted by a patented handpiece onto your skin in a series of flashes and is absorbed by excess melanin, or pigment cells. The heat generated from this light destroys damaged pigment cells and collapses broken blood vessels. After your treatment, dark spots will grow darker as they pull towards the surface of your skin and eventually flake away to reveal a brighter, more even complexion.
What happens during a Forever Young BBL™ treatment?
A consultation is required before scheduling a FYBBL treatment. Once your provider has determined that you are a good candidate for FYBBL, she will advise you on what skincare products to incorporate and those to avoid before and after your treatment. It is NOT advisable to have a FYBBL treatment on tanned skin, as a tan increases your skin’s melanin level, which can confuse the laser and cause complications.
During your FYBBL treatment, your provider will protect your eyes with either goggles or eye shields to block out the bright flashing light of the procedure. She will then apply a light layer of cooling gel to help the laser handpiece glide across your skin and evenly disperse the light. As the handpiece moves against your skin, you’ll experience a warm snapping sensation. Certain areas of your face may feel more sensitive than others, such as the nose, especially if you are targeting broken blood vessels in this area. A FYBBL procedure can last as little as 20 minutes, depending on what area of the face or body you are having treated.
What kind of results can I expect with Forever Young BBL™?
Immediately after your FYBBL treatment, your skin may feel slightly warm and swollen – much like a light sunburn. If vessels were treated during your procedure, these areas might be dense or swollen, sometimes even lightly bruised. These side effects should subside within 24 hours, and ice packs may be used to cool your skin and keep it comfortable. It is essential that you use a physical SPF 30 or higher in the weeks following your treatment to protect your skin from further damage.
After your treatment, you may notice that dark spots continue to get darker and even multiply over the next few hours. THIS IS GOOD! It means that the treatment has worked and that deeper levels of damaged cells have responded that weren’t visible yet. These dark patches will grow dry and flakey over the next few days and will be tempting to pick at. You mustn’t scratch them away, as this can damage the fresh, clear skin that is emerging. This flaking process may take up to two weeks. During that time, let your skin turn over on its own and focus on keeping it hydrated and protected with SPF. Makeup may be worn the day after your FYBBL treatment, but it is advisable to schedule your treatment at least one month before any special event.
Expect to see a dramatically clearer and brighter complexion 2-4 weeks after your FYBBL treatment. Multiple treatments may be needed if significant sun damage or redness is present on your skin. These treatments will be spaced about 4-6 apart, and an SPF must be worn throughout this time.
